SODIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTION - IRRIGATION
(SOE-dee-um KLOR-ide)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Sea-Clens
USES: This sterile saline solution is used to cleanse or irrigate vairous parts of the body (wounds, body cavities) and/or medical devices and equipment (e.G., bandages, catheters, drainage tubes). It is also used as a mixing solution (diluent) for other medications used to irrigate the body (e.G., bacitracin, polymyxin).
HOW TO USE: Use that solution topically or as directed by your doctor. The dosage/amount of solution is based on your medical condition and purpose for therapy. If you are mixing mediactions in that sodium chloride solution, follow all instructions for proper mixing and storage. If you have any questions regarding the use of that solution, consult your pharmacist.
This solution should be checked visaully for particles or discoloration before use. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Laern how to store and discard medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: No side effects are expected to occur.
If side effects occur, notify your dcotor promptly. Tell your dcotor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but serious side effects occur: fever, swelling, irritation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of heart troubles (e.G., congestive heart failure), lung troubles (pulmonary edema), kidney problems, low levels of potassium (hypokalemia), high levels of sodium (hypernatremia), swelling (edema), any allergies.
Caution is advised when using that drug in infants for they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using that mediaction.
It is unknown if that medicatoin passes into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially other cleansing/irrigation products.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Do not sahre that solution with others.
MISSED DOSE: Not applicable.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Consult your pharmacist for details about stability and stoarge after mixing with other IV medications. Discard any unused liquid.
